Why should I be baptized?

Baptism is a command of Christ (Matthew 28:18-20). After placing our faith in Jesus Christ as personal savior, baptism is a step of obedience in following Him.

If I was already baptized as a child or at another church, should I be baptized again?

We follow the New Testament practice of believer’s baptism (Acts 2:41, 8:12). If you were baptized prior to placing your personal faith in Jesus Christ, we encourage you to be baptized as a follower of Christ. If you were baptized as a believer in another church, you do not need to be baptized again at the Bible Chapel.

Do I need to be baptized to be a member of the Bible Chapel?

No. Baptism is not a pre-requisite for membership at the Bible Chapel. However, we do encourage all members to be baptized out of obedience to Christ.

Should my child be baptized?

That’s really up to you as the parent. Baptism is a step of obedience for anyone who has placed their faith in Jesus Christ. A child must be old enough to clearly understand the symbolic nature of baptism. As a parent, you’re in the best position to know if your child has a personal faith in Christ and a sincere desire to be baptized. Children need to follow the same basic procedures we use for adults. They need to complete the registration form (with your help of course), go through a class (for younger children – this is done by our Imago Kids leaders), and videotape their testimony.
