Marriage Mentoring

D.A.R.E.: Discover – Ask – Require – Evaluate

At The Bible Chapel, the D.A.R.E. Mentoring Program is led by Lou and Joyce Motter. Lou is a member of The Bible Chapel Elder Board and has a passion to see good marriages made stronger and hurting marriages healed. He and his wife Joyce are thankful for their own 46-year marriage.

What it’s not! The D.A.R.E.Marriage Mentoring System is not another teaching curriculum. It is not a replacement for counselors or clergy.

What it is! It is a hands on method of mediation and negotiation helping couples learn how to solve their own issues in a very firm and loving way.

A mentor couples role! The role of the mentor is to mediate first, teach second. Mentorees love it because it is focused specifically on their life issues and they enjoy the feeling of accomplishment when solving their issues together. Mentors love it because they are not under pressure to “fix” other couples and the process is easy to follow.

Weddings

In keeping with the mission of The Bible Chapel, it is our desire to partner with couples in planning a Christ-centered wedding ceremony and establishing the foundation for a marriage that will last a lifetime.

To kick-off the process with our wedding team, you can start by following the steps below. This applies to those considering being married at one of our facilities as well having one of our Pastors officiate at your wedding elsewhere:

1. Groom and Bride both individually complete and submit the Pre-Wedding Questionnaire.

2. Upon receipt of questionnaires, you will be contacted to schedule a pastoral meeting for the purpose of:

  • Getting to know you, your love story and your spiritual journeys
  • Explaining what is involved in this partnership of wedding preparation
  • Agreeing to partner together

3. Select and reserve your wedding date and/or officiant. Complete one of the following Wedding Facility Use Request forms:
- South Hills Campus Wedding Facility Use Request
- Washington Campus Wedding Facility Use Request

Because of our desire to uphold God’s value of marriage, and give couples the best opportunity for success and satisfaction in marriage, we require the following actions for cohabitating couples who wish to be married by our church:

1. Couples must live in separate residence for 3-6 months as part of their pre-marital preparation.
2. Couples must commit to sexual abstinence as part of their pre-marital preparation.

We believe abiding by these standards for pre-marital preparation will have the following benefits to the couple:

1. Establish a relationship of obedience to God.
2. Develop an attitude of trust in God to provide in the areas necessary for the physical separation to occur.
3. Inspire a positive testimony for Jesus Christ to friends, family, and sphere of influence.
